Doro launches text enabled colour screen mobiles for senior citizens

Published 13th June 2008

Doro’s Care Electronics portfolio has further expanded with the introduction of two new GSM mobile phones specifically designed for their simplicity and ease of use. This move is in response to the demands of the burgeoning seniors’ technology market, as more and more consumers want mobile phones with clearer displays and large well defined buttons. The Doro HandleEasy 328gsm and 330gsm are launched this week in the UK.

The HandleEasy 330gsm is easy to use and designed specifically for the elderly users’ needs and requirements. The mobile handset has large buttons and a high-contrast colour display, making it easy for users to distinguish telephone numbers and text messages. It also has an integrated text messaging function, FM radio, torch, vibrating ringer and a speakerphone function.

Chris Millington, MD Doro UK said: “Needs, opinions and tastes in mobile phones differ among senior citizens as much as in younger target groups. It’s great that we can now provide alternatives even for senior citizens who need functions like text messaging or listening to the radio, but still want an easy-to-use mobile phone.”

Jérôme Arnaud, CEO Doro, said: “Many senior citizens still believe that mobile phones are difficult to use with complicated functions and therefore refuse to buy one. In contrast to other mobiles on the market ours have been developed according to the needs of senior citizens and combine ergonomic demands with functions and simplicity. Seniors don’t have to adapt their lives to our technology; we’ve already adapted it to their needs.”

Doro is also launching an upgraded version of the successful Doro HandleEasy 326gsm model with the HandleEasy 328gsm. The phone is equipped with a directory with room for 100 names and numbers, a clear display and the ability to receive text messages.

HandleEasy 328gsm (RRP £99.99) is available in both black and white and the HandleEasy 330gsm (RRP £129.99) in black lava and pearl white. Both will be available from BioAcoustics (www.bioacoustics.co.uk), Online Technology (www.onltech.co.uk) and Matob Mobile (www.matobmobile.co.uk).
